sticks and stones
Sticks and stones may break my bones, but the names you call me will always hurt
Just because they are words doesn’t mean that they don’t still hurt
Just because they are words doesn’t mean that they won’t make me cry
Just because they are only words doesn’t mean that they still can’t kill
A clever nursery rhyme does not make the pain go away
A cheerful smile I get from my mother when she tell me it’ll be ok doesn’t make me stop crying
A pat on the back from my dad doesn’t keep the suicidal thoughts out of my head
The smile that was once on my face has disappeared
The dry eyes that I used to have are no more
The happy days I used to have turned into distant dreams
All from the names … the names that do hurt
