This is the wonder that's keeping the stars apart.

The days are fading
Blue to black
Their hearts are racing
Back to back
Foot and feet
And hands and Hand
Ready to meet
They do not stand;
The air is crisp
The sun is weak
The light filters down
The trees and peeks
The ground stirs
Tiny twigs break
They cast up slurs
Of leaves in their wake
The mood is orange
The breeze almost brisk
It’s half cold
But won’t commit
Their days are numbered;
The season near through
The sweet fall air
Is taunting too,
They began as many
But now are one
This family together
Runners without the sun.
