My Brother

My dude,
Stands in front of me like a patriot in his uniform,
Off he goes to be one of the "Few and Proud".

My Bro,
Hugs me when tears roll down my cheeks,
A hole boring through chest carrying grief and sadness.

My main man,
Who was with me since then beginning of time,
Who's helped me get through fourteen years of life.

The one,
Who I will always love,
No matter the circumstances.

When all else fails,
There he is,
Pumped up and ready to roll.

The world could be at end,
And he wouldn't leave me hurting,
Not now or ever.

But My dude, Bro, and my main man,
Is leaving to serve as living shield,
For liberty.

So there he goes,
As I stand alone with a thorn in my heart,
Aching with every beat.

Wishing to call him back,
From that bus,
That rides off to Paris Island.

And so I ache
Awaiting for some news
,
Hoping with all my being that it will be good.

But still through the pain,
I can see him in shining armor,
Taking his place once again beside me.

Through hurt and sadness,
Laughter and joy,
He always is, and will be there for me.
