The Purpose of Tears
My tears feed the fire.
They feed the scorching flames.
They fall for so many losses,
For those without a name
My tears ignite the the fire.
They sharpen the blinding glow.
They reveal things I never wanted to see,
Things I never wanted to know.
My tears feed the fire.
Consuming who I am.
I feel as if I'm dying
In this God forsaken land.
As I stand there ablaze
In the midst of terrible pain,
I listen a little harder.
I can hear you calling my name.
I feel a gentle draft come in.
It's soothing to my wounds.
And I begin to heal,
All because of you
The tears are still flowing
But, the flames are falling low
I feel a gentle draft come in.
“No, that can't be snow...”
As the snow begins to fall,
My tears freeze to my face.
It seems no matter where I go
Pain is always in this place.
But I still choose to turn towards the sun
And I catch light with my tears.
And they glow like glistening diamonds
Reflecting light on insignificant fears
Now, my tears give me beauty.
They remind me of who I am.
I've been through fire and snow.
Will I have strength to face what's next?
Yes.
I know I can.
