Unknown to Me
Unknown to me, the little one,
The love brought out and strewn
With tender care amongst
Her little lambs
Unknown to me, the little one,
The baskets, from everywhere,
Each with a small memory
Carried within the woven walls
Unknown to me, the little one,
Her laugh, bright and cheerful,
A little giggle,
Meant from within
Unknown to me, the little one,
The pain and suffering
Loss and sorrow
Heartbreak and grieving
Unknown to me, the little one,
The love she had
For little babes
Caring, giving gifts so freely
Unknown to me, the little one,
The pain of aging,
Fading away,
But never losing love
Unknown to me, the little one,
The good times,
Happy times,
Full of smiles, fun, laughter
Known to me at last,
Gazing at the casket with the row
Of shells and the bag of almonds
The truly amazing, loving, kind, generous, positive spirit that will live.
