And So She Ran
Her breath came quick
and her lungs pulled in sharp gasps
of frigid air that seemed to
to crack and splinter the cage of her ribs.
She did not know what she was running from,
nor where she would find herself,
but the pounding of her heart
 pumping blood past her ears
was louder than rhyme or reason
 and so she ran.
