Daddys girl
I see a little girl –
With her daddy
Holding hands,
Laughing,
Typical daddy’s girl.
But when I was so little,
Where was my daddy?
Probably out,
Drinking.
“working late”
It was hard to believe
That those words were really lies
The only time id see him
Fights would burse out
Food would go flying
Tears were erupting.
He’d come home late
And sleep all day
I’d never see him.
The memories I hold
Are of me,
Walking up the stairs,
With boiling hot coffee
Burning my hands.
Just to bring it to my daddy
But I didn’t get the same treatment back
And the only thing I’ve ever wanted,
Was to be,
A daddy’s girl.
