Eternal
The waiting is so long
It feels like an ending
Even though I have
A promise, from myself
At least, that I won’t lose
Your face unless you take
My heart and throw it past
Anything I could ever see
It happened once before,
Even after I thought my
Impossibility was real and
Truly had been caught between
My hands, holding tight to
You so I don’t lose myself
I don’t know what’s more
Selfish, wanting you because
I love you or because I know
That I can make you better,
Even if you cannot say my name
It’s stupid, this wishing
But the only thing that keeps me
Here, inside the person that you
Love, and so I’ll cling to it even
As it melts, whispering up in
Tiny drops of blue, toward
Freedom that I’ll never want
