puzzle pieces
you are broken, like
china upon the floor
when, voices raised, they
left you crumpled there
a paper idea left to fade
away. i am shattered,
like the prayers recited
for them, for me, when
glass sprayed onto asphalt
a searing flame withered to
ashes. our edges are
ragged. but your
fingers lace around
mine, fallen into place like
sunlight after sunrise.
as one when our mouths
murmur names, whispered
secrets, promises
meant to be kept.
Together we are
Beautiful
