The Big Game
On the field, warming up.
For the biggest game of the year
my heart is pumping
the smell of mud and sweat
the feel of the wet grass under my feet.
The roar of the crowd
It has started
we huddle up ready to get the play
we listen and know what to do.
We line up.
Down, Set, Hike
the snap of the ball,
the pounding of feet as we run the field
the play goes into action
pads colliding together
as the play rolls out
The smell of sweat
The roaring of the crowd
the sight of the clock counting down the time
as we score the winning points
the biggest game of the year has come to an end.
