A Monster In My Closet
At three, i used to hear the closet creak
it must be a monster i would say
too afraid to peek
i would clutch my teddy bear tight
his soft, furry body
assuring me that i'd be alright
i'd keep my teddy bear next to me
"just forget about the racket"
he'd say to me
but nowadays i am too old for a toy
for a nine year old, i am
and grown up into a rather large boy
the closet always does creak
but i am too old for the bear
and still too afraid to peek
and still too afraid to peek
