And You're Gone
How can you dream?
When every fantasy
Was ripped from me
As my whimper turned scream.
My life was built around you,
Like a fortress by the sea;
So beautiful, unmarred.
Until a storm wrenched you from me.
Now, I wander amoung the ruins,
But you’re gone.
How can you smile genuinely?
When every moment you made me laugh
Is stuck on repeat in my mind;
Slowing down time.
The feeling in my chest
Is Love at the core,
But the pain it provides
Is staggering, if not more.
I’d love to just let go,
like the person I am.
But you’re gone.
How can you look up to the Night’s sky
And marvel at the beauty?
When all I see
Is my world floating by.
I can almost feel your arms,
Wrapped around me tight.
I can almost feel your heartbest,
Pulling me closer.
But the feeling vanishes
Like smoke on the wind,
And you’re gone.
How can you sleep?
When all the promises
You made to me
Are lying broken at your feet.
My every dream is buried
By words you said, but didn’t mean.
My Nightmares turn to dust;
They’re nothing, just the sweetest dream.
Compared to when I open my eyes
And you’re gone.
