I am A Poet With Hope Inside
I am a poet with hope inside
I wonder if I will ever make it in this crazy world.
I hear the sound of a pencil scratching
I see rejection before my eyes over and over again.
I want to see my verses in everlasting print.
I am a poet with hope inside.
I pretend that I am good at what I do.
I feel the pencil in my numb hand.
I touch the blank paper before me.
I worry that no one will like it.
I cry that I won’t be able to make this dream come true.
I am a poet with hope inside.
I understand that it is hard work to do this.
I say I’m ready for the challenge ahead.
I dream for the day to come
I try to imagine that marvelous day and
I hope that it will soon find its way to me.
I am a poet with hope inside.
