Watch, Listen, Call
I want to help,
Wish I could help,
But I watch, listen, and call.
I watch you pour your drink into your glass,
Watch you down it like a cup of water.
I watch you inhale, hold, breathe out,
Like you've done nothing wrong.
I watch you, even help you,
Try to escape the tug of war you're caught between,
But you are the rope.
I don't know where you do it,
But you showed me the slices in your wrist,
The thin, penciled scars,
The fresher, bleeding wounds,
As if your problems were inside of you,
And you were simply freeing them.
I want to help,
Wish I could help,
But I watch, listen, and call.
