A Wish
The air is so thick and suffocating
Even when I’m standing next to you
I can hardly breathe…
So with my final gasp of air
I blow the dandelion into the moonlight
And make a wish I know will never come true
Pictures on the mantle show a lighter burn
Because like your face it’s burned into my mind
I’m sorry my feelings are just too complicated
I know that I’m running out of so much time
But as my ghosts in past have demonstrated
I still play with fire, yet I never seem to learn
I take a tour around the world
Faces and places never seem to change
But I c*** and load and pull the trigger
The bullet found it’s mark
But my heart is out of range
Diamonds ruby’s jewels the world over
Never really found their closure
But one final breath is all I wield
One more precious kiss
So I embrace the moment like a newborn with open arms
And the dandelion may never grant my wish
But if you still feel puzzled
And the words just seem to strangle
All the feelings are twisted and mangled
The circumstance repeats itself like a revolving door
And I just wanted to be with you…
