The Fall
"It's not that tall,"
There it stood
5 feet of multi-colored plastic and terror.
It taunts me.
Drew taunts me.
"If you were cool
you would do it,"
and that’s all it took
for me to buy in and begin to climb.
I reach the top.
Knees buckling
and hands trembling,
I take hold
of the thin frail branch,
that dangles
above the unstable roof of the playhouse.
Eyes closed
I jump.
For a moment,
I glide on the coarse branch
like Tarzan on a vine.
Then all of the sudden...
SNAP!
The last thing I remember,
is hurdling head first
straight towards the ground,
and a single thought
'This is Drew's fault...'
