Art of Subterfuge
They hath been not vulgar nor kind in their disposition
Quite nor sweet was their nature
Yet loud and stoic was not becoming of them either

It seems as if I, the one who wasn’t adored or feared,
Has taken it out of context, unto the slicing board.
 Dissecting. Each. Word.
Did you really mean what you said??
Was I, the one who will never be adored,
 Never be feared,
Really that interesting? ?That lovely? ?That intimidating???
Or was it a trick of the tongue
A slip of the vernacular gap
 Between you
 ?And me.

And now I see it, as clear as a night sky
Only clouded by regular stars and irregular smog
And through the opaque film, I know now.
Know things I never wished to know.
