Red Asphalt Blooms
Repress all thoughts,
Memories to hide.
The pain is in the process
Of living this life.
Desperate wishes,
Childhood dreams,
Tearful pleas to the sky;
It is not who we start out as,
It is the us that we find.
Green eyed little monsters,
Howling with want.
Silky gray shadows
Walking the line.
Life rumbles on;
Like a locomotive train.
We're all tethered to the tracks
Dazed by approaching doom;
Like deers in the headlights
Leaving red asphalt blooms.
