Night, Day
Listen my Mothers,
My Fathers,
Listen My Daughters,
My Sons,
Listen my Brothers and Sisters;
You've traveled such a long way.
Now is not the time
Nor the place
Nor the company,
To bicker and chatter and waste what you say.
Fore in stalks the Night,
On sweet silky feet;
Prancing, oh closer,
Sweeping shadows, so lovingly,
Into its embrace.
Day is brilliant,
In its every twirling wonders;
Lit by the wonder of Daylight itself.
Yet Day must run,
As the Night stalks closer.
Run Day, on dancer's feet,
Far, far away.
Come night!
We welcome you.
Your kaleidoscope of stars;
Spinning and swirling into legends of time.
Night is for light making,
When stories are made.
From thin prickly sawdust
Rises this tale;
With wings of words,
And core fashioned of love.
But Night must flee as well,
As Day pulls ahead.
They run this race,
Over and over again.
Yet, can you call it running?
Darling Day dances,
Sweeps Night off its feet
And twirls quickly away.
Away...
Away...
Now my Mothers,
My Fathers,
Now My Daughters,
My Sons,
Now my Brothers and Sisters;
Pay more heed to shifts of the ever-turning Earth.
It rumbles and rattles and spins on its axis;
Carrying us,
Oh please carry us,
Far far away...
