One Way Street
I now understand
That love can be a one way street.
It used to be
A quiet country lane,
With the sweet rumble
Of yesterdays
Tumbling both ways to meet.
Now the scenery is gray,
Dripping tears from every tree;
Their scorched bodies trembling.
It's now I see.
I see blockades
As tall as the sky,
Preventing my love to enter;
I'm stuck behind.
But again and again,
I put myself in reverse.
Then back into drive
To restart the course.
Again and again,
I crash into the walls
As high as the sky.
It doesn't matter how many times I fall;
Forever I'll try.
Whether or not I'm broken and bruised,
Whether or not every breath is to cry;
Again and again,
Forever I'll try.
