Remember When
She walked into class that first day
With her hair in pigtails and a smile on her face.
Twelve years from now she’d reminisce on this time
When childhood first had to say goodbye.
From that time in class to the play on the field,
She’d never felt as she’d felt right then.
Her best friend’s voice late at night,
The brush of a kiss for the very first time.
As she stood up now to walk the line,
She pushed all the memories to the side.
This was her big day to show the world why she was made.
As the rough paper slide into her hands,
She knew this journey had come to an end.
Tears silently slide down her face
Then came the memory of that first day.
