Moving Day
Sitting in my room,
nothing but a computer
and a plug in left,
It could have been done sooner,
but the time has come too soon.
The room looks so much bigger,
without the furniture
and the sense of life
I was ready and waiting for
that filled me with vigor.
My bags are packed,
they linger in the closet,
piled oddly together,
with a shiny glass chess set.
For days they've sat.
All the memories settle here,
bad and good,
fun and boring,
and as they should,
soon they'll start to disappear.
For now I'm thankful that I,
do not bid my friends farewell,
nor my last year of school,
and as you can tell,
I can still touch the sky.
Happily I wonder,
who will move here next time,
what memories they'll accumulate,
I hope they get the right signs,
I hope they hear loud thunder.
