I try to fool myself with noble aims,
While I pursue the fiery games.
I give in to my innermost desire,
And I, unable to reach to what I aspire,
Live in a regret that looms,
Suppressing a smaller remorse that never blooms-
The regret that I could have been more,
That I could have amply filled the heart’s store.

Smiles waft into the refrain of my existence,
Stimulating the means to my subsistence.
And I just want to be a normal wanderer,
Not guilty, not known as the soul’s murderer.
As we drift apart, I reach out for you,
Like an abandoned child, Michelangelo’s Adam too.
We float on lily-pad rafts on turbulent seas,
Sometimes close enough to hear each other’s pleas.

Finally, our throats go hoarse with futile cries
Escaping ears and souls, drifting to celestial skies.
Finally, in this glowing labyrinth – life’s maze,
Flames erupt as eyes meet in lovers’ gaze.
Not by those icy waters is the fire put out,
Rather into steam by the heat, like night and day’s bout,
The water is dried into a canyon of a lake once grand,
Once teeming with ebb and flow, until love’s untimely remand.
