Slow Down
A little girl in her mother’s shoes,
Tries to tiptoe daintily around.
She wears bright red upon her lips,
Smearing it just a tad.
The dark green dust above her eyes,
Is sure to make her mother mad.
Crash! The makeup falls to the ground.
The little girl is surrounded by glass,
As swirls of colorful dust fly and dance.
She wants to grow up, far too fast,
And catch a boy’s admiring glance.
Slow down little girl, take some time to breathe.
Hold on to your innocence,
For life won’t stay like this.
All too easy is glass shattered,
All too easy does life make you tattered.
Soon your pretending will become reality.
Soon your hopes will run towards you rapidly.
