Chance Encounter
I met a woman walking down the path
And said hello
She said hello.
And we parted ways
Forevermore.
I looked back at her retreating back
And wondered if we had met differently
If it would have been different
Between the two of us.
If we had met at a bar…
Would it have been different?
Her retreating back looked sad.
She wished I had stopped and talked
Gotten to know her more.
What is her name?
What are her hobbies?
Does she like to read?
Would we have become friends?
Best friends?
Or something more?
We will never know.
