Whats Really In Your Eyes
cold or warm,
light or dark,
a story to see,
a tail to tell.
a little boy,
with his brand new toy,
with eyes alight,
with a twinkle, bright.
a soldier returns,
from over the sea,
with eyes that have seen,
men on hand, and knee.
And though it’s dawn,
his eyes’ lights gone,
and now like dusk,
they're but empty husk.
someone just fell,
and they hide it well,
as they slump to class,
except, in their eyes,
now made of glass.
she looked at him,
and him, at her,
and the thought once stashed,
returns in a flash.
and though we all,
both big and small,
some times do hide,
what goes on inside,
with a friend,
don't make small trys,
to trick them with
the message you send
because,
there are those like me,
who still can see,
what's really in your eyes.
