listen
I do not speak
But I still have something to day
The very rocks have voices
If only someone would lend an ear
The sea murmurs promises
But no one understands
The deer leave messages in their run
We haven’t cracked the code
The river sings songs
And no-one stops to hear
The trees do speak
But no one knows the language
The stars tell sagas
Nobody knows how to listen
They have a language
Which we’ve never bothered to learn
They all yell,
But you do not listen.
