Ideas swirl around me
Dreams press against my smooth skin
A pool of magnificent mysteries pulse above me

I gaze out the window
pressing my fingertips against the glass
the real world lies beyond me
only a few feet from where I stand

but the glass divides the dimensions
of dreams
and reality

this dream has gone on too long
slowly shifting to a nightmare
this mystery has lost its magic

as the world rushes on around me
here I float
waiting
wishing
wanting
trapped...
in a dream

I wrote this poem specifically describing a different picture, so don;t pay attention to the one I have here.

Great job!  I love the abstract feel to this poem.

i love the surreal point of view of this poem, it makes me think of my own dreams, i love the part, "this dreams has gone on too long slowly shifting to a nightmare."

Love this poem! Some of this phrasing is really great. It is well described and really takes me to a dream-like place. If I may, I would suggest a better flow in some spots. Overall, extremely well done! :)

Oh yes, thanks for the link, Liz. That was helpful visual imagery :).

Great poem! I especially like the line "this mystery has lost its magic". The concept of being "trapped in a dream" is also interesting, because we'd think one would be "trapped" in a nightmare and purposefully entering a dream :).

This makes me think. Actually, you can be trapped in some dreams...
