Dawn Breaks
Today
I opened my eyes to the morning dew.
I heard
For the first time
The silence before each cry
Of the fluttering birds beyond my windowsill.
The sky
Burned,
Set aflame by the sun’s soft caress on the horizon.
So much fire
And so much rain.
They mix and they mingle in the paradox of dawn.
Each droplet sends ripples through my soul,
Lapping at the edge of reality,
Diving from the cliff of decisions each morning brings.
I swim in the surreal light of daybreak.
I float on the surface of night.
Each movement I make, I flicker between dark and the light.
Dark and the light.
Dark.
Light.
Flittering, fluttering; the morn approaches.
