The secret
The secret that could change everything
Is the one that everybody knows
That we all refuse to show and that grows
Within us more and more
Day by day
Hour by hour
Minute by minute
Were all in this together, stuck I this problem
Though we chose to not be in it
We are a part of this world
We call earth
We call it home
Yet we are all contributing to its
Eminent doom and
Destruction
I don’t know how much I have to implore
How many movies by Al Gore
We have to watch before the message is clear
If we continue in the path, the end will be near
And I don’t mean December twenty first
The Mayan calendar is not my guide
Neither is Jake Gyllenhaal or Dennis Quaid
From the disappearing glaciers
To the home town spring lake
As I see the disturbance I want to make
A difference, I want to be the change
But turning off the light when I’m not home
Or not leaving my car running when I’m not moving
Is not enough, no its not
I want to do something big, and even extreme
But I cannot do it alone I need help
And by that I mean
Everybody
Needs to give back and find a way to make up for the lack
Of green grass and excess of greenhouse gasses
Global warming, that deadly verb
Is creeping up on us, and we need to stop it
Drop it and roll it out of here
Before it’s too late
No matter how many people or how much time it would take
Away from our everyday routine lives
We have to strive to survive and revive the planet we once had
Before we decided to add
The carbon dioxide, the nitrous oxide the methane
And then decide to hide from the fact that we let this happen
Under our nose, as we closed our eyes
And when they finally opened, the look of surprise
That the green is now brown
And the purple, pink, yellow and red are nowhere to be found
So let’s shout out the secret
And admit our mistakes
Let’s be the change before it’s too late
We have the world in the palm of our hands
Begging to be saved.
