Nectar of the Gods
Nectar of the Gods
…or at least of the Brits.
It greets me in the morning,
helping me eliminate the sleep still present in my eyes.
It’s there when I come home,
a way to calm my stressed mind.
It lulls me off to sleep,
ridding me of any shaken nerves or gross anxieties.
I’ve always drunk it,
sometimes with milk, sometimes honey, sometimes black,
but it’s always been there,
for support, warmth, comfort.
Of course I mean tea,
I am dependent on little else,
and nothing else could get me through the day as it does.
