And I'm Gone
I can hear the gears turning
As the seconds tick by
Never counting minutes passing
But timing my demise
One clock can count the hours
Count the beats of my heart
And then march onward
As my time runs out
It counts my moments of uncomfort with its strict minute hand
Slugging me across the face
Again
Again
I hurry through my life
Running across Time’s stark face
Fleeing nervous seconds at my heels
Until I hit the hour
Moving at an ever sluggish pace
Time leaves me battered, bruised and bleeding
Shaking until dawn
It counts my days so slowly
Until they’re years
And I’m gone
