Calf Roping

I sit up on him
The crowd stands shouting
I smell the sweat dripping down his neck
I hear the calf pounding ready to run
I nod the calf springs out of the shoot
He jumps my heart's pounding I throw my rope
I go flying off my saddle running
I get to the calf flipping him over
I grab his legs one...
two...
three...
throwing my hands in the air
I look up at the clock smiling,
knowing I just took first place.
