Ballet Shoes
Black lace
 with ribbons tied
 invisible wings
 teach me to fly
 on tip-toe
 with ravens beauty
 I'll balance my soul
 so you won't see
 the scars of ruby
 Dust off my heart
 give me peace and grace
 I'll never be a swan
but I'll be more in her place
with this dress of black roses
 that flows at my side
as it whispers in the night
 Though the crimson
 leaks and stains my dress
 I'll die with a dance
 whisper with my last breath
"I may not have been a swan
 with feather so white
 with a polished heart
that was a shadow of mine.
 But I know
 that the path you choose
 is always different
 with each pair of
 ballet shoes."
 Black lace
 with ribbons tied
 invisible wings
 taught her to fly.
