Foreign voices dictate far too much
Shaping decisions, actions, ideas
Belonging to a life that’s not their own
Foreign voices invade my head
Mother. Visit the college of your dreams
Friend. Come out tonight, your not social
Teacher. Study till your brain melts
Warnings of a native voice are drowned out
Erase the blemishes they wrote in your book
Allow native thoughts to resurface
Twist ugly statements to fit your own life
Invasions shot down. Natives rejoice
