Unseen
All they could see was the ugliness
The spots, the forlorn face
The dark shadows, the dry, cracked lips
mouth turned down at the corners
They said I was pouting
I was stubborn, a bad child
Only I felt the dry tears on both cheeks
Invisible like my nonexistent happiness
Only when they left the room did the tears release
Stung my eyes, stained my cheeks
and wet the tips of my lips
A salty pain
Unseen.
