Cancer
Not ignorant to the reality,
But still never thinking it’d be your family,
Waking up mourning,
Squeezing the picture to your heart,
Reminiscing and hurting,
Constantly questioning,
Blaming the world,
She did no wrong,
Why is she gone,
First it was her hair,
Then it was her breast,
Next it was her life,
I can’t take this distress,
Her heart was good,
Her smile welcoming,
When she came in the hood,
Everyone stood,
She was a queen to me,
An exquisite beauty,
Her people now abandoned,
But I’m not naive,
I know it’s more than her physical being,
She set people free,
Left teachings of love,
She stood and never gave up,
I’m angry she’s gone,
I want to say I’m done,
But I’d deserve a slap,
I can’t let down mom,
She was a hero,
I can’t be a villain,
I’ve got to live up to her expectations,
It drives me insane,
But she always told me you’ll get through the rain,
So I will remain,
I’ll fight to the end,
I’ll teach love all over again,
And when my time comes,
I’ll be happy to know,
My life was fulfilled,
Because I didn’t let her down,
I made my mom proud.
