Fireworks
We never watched the fireworks.
I guess we never felt the need,
 because they were so bright
 inside of us
 we didn't need to see
 the sparks; the lights
that emanated brilliance in the sky
that we saw every time we gazed
 into each others eyes.
 We felt the cannonades
 with every kiss, each embrace.
 Every subtle touch
 parroting through our veins.
 We never watched the fireworks.
I guess we never felt the need.
 But watching them now,
 me alone, you gone,
 the explosions reverberate
 throughout the emptiness inside me.
