Bitter Thursdays
On Thursday he'd pack her lunch with a candy bar.
-To share with friends- he'd tell her.
But she'd eat it alone at the bus stop.
She often ignored him, but on Thursdays, she seemed cheerful.
And he was happy for that short period of time.
He was lonely.
He craved company.
She filled the void.
She didn't like chocolate.
She disliked the bitter taste.
But, it reminded her of home.
So she didn't share.
He craved order.
She craved warmth.
Neither received what they wanted.
Neither were bothered to change.
