If you do not breathe through writing, if you do not cry out in writing, or sing in writing, then don&#039;t write, because our culture has no use for it.<br /> Anais Nin

The lights are on.

The lights are off.

Sun streams through the windows.

Shadows claw the carpet.

A girl sits independent,

A girl sits isolated,

Exploring a book.

Confined to a book.

She’s nestled in a couch filled with geese feathers,

She’s hunched on a couch filled with geese feathers,

Geese that once flew high above us,

Geese that were once captured,

That once graced the skies.

That were once plucked clean.

Seen by beautiful people.

Killed by greedy people.

Her face is hidden in her book,

She hides her face in her book,

As she discovers another world.

As she flees to another world.

This is beatiful, the sharp contrast between the bitter and sentimental is artfully done.
