Phoenix
What happened to the days when music was from the soul?
What happened to the times when thought was the basis of words?
What happened to people who wrote to express, not to fill their wallets?
What happened to the passion? The provocation? The talent? The dedication? The determination?
It's time for us, the fallen, to rise.
It's time to push, to revitalize.
It's time to stand up and show that we have something to say.
Like a phoenix from the ashes of yesterday.
But what do we do?
We'll tear apart the structure of today's filth with the methods and practices of old.
We'll wash away the repugnant face with a hellstorm of truth and emotion.
For we are guided by what's within, not trivial or material things.
For we follow the commandments of the heart, not the checkbook.
We'll bring back the devotion, the excitement, the sentiment, the spirit, the tempest, the vehemence.
It's time for us, the forgotten, to rise.
It's time to illustrate and symbolize.
It's time to stand up and show that we have something to say.
Like a phoenix from the ashes of yesterday.
We'll exemplify, emphasize, embody, and elucidate.
We'll illuminate, portray, proclaim, allegorize, and depict.
For we have mastered the art of words.
For we have danced with the demons of thought.
We'll blow away the idea of cliche.
We'll electrify the darkening grey.
We'll rise from the ashes of yesterday.
