Thursday Night
I remember when we stood in my garage
At 1:45 AM the Thursday night before I left for Philadelphia
I remember how you held my hands in yours
How you held me
Held me so tight
So tight as if we never wanted to let go
I remember our confessions
How you said you'd wait for me
And I with you
Maybe you don't remember that night all that clearly
But I do
I remember every moment
Every moment, every feeling
All that longing
I remember how you admitted your feelings
How much you cared
How you had a revelation and told me so
I remember how you remembered my birthday, and I remember yours
They're just a few days apart
I remembered how we both agree to meet again
I'll be seeing you in six weeks
It's six weeks too long
But we'll see how we feel
See if we're still faithful
I know I will be.
And I remember that Thursday night
You gave me my first kiss.
