Harmonized Dreams
When i lie awake at night,
and the millions of thoughts
race through my mind,
nothing stands out more
than your calloused fingers
moving expertly up and down
the strings of your guitar.
How could anything replace
that familiar lullaby
that vanquished my childish fears;
that soothed me into slumber
in which i would dream
of that perfect harmony
and that perfect life i was living.
It's funny how things change.
How one second you have something,
and then the next, it's gone.
How you take things for granted,
then flip coins into fountains
and wish on every star you see
that it would just come back.
I spend every night
thinking of the chords
and the strums
and the tunes
that exemplified your brilliance.
I spend every night
listening to only memories.
Because the truth is,
memories are all I have.
I've flipped
thousands of coins
and I've seen
millions of stars..
But I'll never hear you're song again.
