Daddy's Little Girl
Once I was daddy's little girl
always together, almost inseparable.
Once he was my best friend
unitedly causing all sorts of trouble.
Once he was the only man I needed
and the only man's love I cared for.
But then I became a teenager
and started looking elsewhere.
Once I would confide in my dad
about the boys I liked and talked to.
Once I used to run to him
to wipe away the fallen tears.
Once he threatened to take a baseball bat
to any boy that broke my heart.
But then one day I thought I didn't need him
to fight my battles anymore.
Once I decided I didn't need his advice
because I thought I knew it all.
Once I ignored his warnings
and found myself torn apart
Once I gave it all to a boy.
who didn't love me back.
And then I realized how much
I really needed my dad.
