In One Word; Broken
I am
the dripping ink
on a wet page
sand in your fist
a rock in water
the childhood memories
of a bleeding wound
a wilted rose
left to burn
in the fire of agony
I am
the sorrowful rain
from a smokey sky
here to rust
a golden locket
a shattered mirror
whose shards
only collect dust
the tears of pain
staining your cheeks
a smile
hiding countless hours
of your struggles
to be as good
as the next
the door of life
creaking closed
I am
the sad music
sucking you into
a black hole
of despair
too much change
too little time
unopened arms
not here in time
one step forward
two steps back
the edge of a cliff
anticipating
your final jump
I am
the path
with no return
the feeling
behind your sinking heart
when it drops
to the ground
a gaping scar
never to be sewn together again
the hole in you heart
to be left vacant
forever
a crimson balloon
ascending into the sky
I am
the thought in your mind
that no one cares
your last breath
the distant laughter
that echoes
off your shattered soul
your silent yearning
for help
I am
your reason
to let go.
