The Life of an Athelete
“Run!” the coaches yell.
So run is what we do.
That’s what we’re programmed to do.
What the coaches say goes,
no matter how crazy or challenging.
Every one of us.
The ones who dared say no are long gone.
Whether it be on field or court,
nothing a coach says is denied.
So every play,
Every drive,
Every down,
Every at bat,
Every pop-fly,
Every ground ball,
Every throw,
Every catch,
We run.
Why?
Because coach told us we had to.
