In The Mirror
While looking in the mirror, I wonder
Just wonder who I am; I close my eyes
I am the chords you strum on an untuned guitar
I am the melody you play on an off-key piano
I am the shade of black in the rainbow
I am the drops of water from the pouring rain
I am the comet that glides by unnoticed
I am the rustle you hear through the lifeless trees
I am the dull book you check out of the library
I am the station you skip on the radio
I am the day you wish would come to an end
I am the rules you despise and do your best to disobey
I am the text message you didn’t wish to send
I am the graveyard you do your best to avoid
I am the piece of candy that you throw away
I am the losing numbers on your last lottery ticket
I am the “F” on your final report card
I am the annoying lyrics that repeat in your head
I am the fly you tell to go away
I am the time that passes by slowly
I am the tears that roll down your beaten face
I am the nightmare you wake up from
I am the reality you come to after a dream
I finally get the courage to open my eyes
Wondering if this is true
I realize, absolutely, all the way through
