Old Home
The last time I saw you
the year was 2004
I hope the new house owners
didn’t change you at all.
I miss my old room
The one at the end of the short hallway
to the left
with the emerald carpets.
I miss the tiny basement
with the beige tiles and mysterious locked door.
I guess they called Kentucky the
“Blue Grass State” because
the backyard was always
the richest shades of blue green.
I miss the kitchen, whose cabinets held the utensils
to my colorful masterpieces
and imagination on paper.
I miss you, my Old Kentucky Home.
