The Dawn
The dawn, once bright yet now so bleak
Was it just days since the world seemed a friend
When the dawn brought new hope and new sun and new love
What now is only means to an untimely end
How long has it been since comfort came in daylight
When life was lived in sweet indifference
Why must now the world become so sharp and wild
Dripping with blood and despair
Dawn, O you red sky of hate
How you fool those that gaze upon you
How you dazzle them with your heavenly hues
You bring with the morn only mourning
