The Path Love Does Take
Love is such a strong word.
Said too much, and yet not meant enough.
A heart is just a toy, even if it breaks you can always find a newer one.
People are just socks, if you lose one just steal someone else's.
Life is just a game, there's always a cheat code in the back somewhere.
Love is just a sweet word, pillow talk, vinegar disguised as honey.
A wolf in a sheep's costume.
Yet too many fall for the cheap glamour, drawn in with false promises and sweet words.
Looked at like property, somebody else's doll.
A one way freight train of emotions.
Like roller coasters and tidal waves, they rock you, and shake you senseless until your numb.
You can't even remember your reasons, did you even have any to begin with?
Like endless mazes the path you'll walk if you let yourself.
Treated like an inconvenience until you start to think the same way.
Hating yourself to the core, disgust and discontent in your own skin.
Such is the path you'll take with the ups, downs, loops, turns, and cliffs that love does offer.
Only the courageous dare brave it, or maybe it's just the lonely, weak, and desperate that plan their own demise on that treacherous road.
